Peroneal supports, or foot drop braces, are intended for use when flexing the ankle (dorsiflexion) is challenging or in cases of peroneal nerve palsy, which causes a "drop foot". A drop foot brace helps with weakness in ankle dorsiflexion by promoting a natural gait, improving step patterns, and helping the user increase their walking capacity. Depending on the model, a peroneal support can be a full lower leg orthosis (AFO) or an ankle cuff with support straps that attach to the shoe. We also offer models where the support straps are infinitely adjustable according to your needs, providing targeted support more to either the inner or outer side of the foot. Dynamic ankle-foot orthoses come with, or offer as an accessory, a foot cuff that allows the drop foot brace to be used indoors barefoot as well.
